As tourist season dwindles down to almost nothing for the onslaught of rainy season, Dominical gets back to it’s grass roots per se. Often referred to as the “sleepy surf village” of Dominical on Costa Rica’s southern zone on the Pacific side, this little village certainly lives up to it’s name from May thru till December.
Over the past high season, Dominical has seen a few minor cosmetic changes including the widening of the beach road so now when you are heading past Seseme Street on your way to the beach you won’t need a neckbrace afterwards. There is now two full lanes instead of the one horse trail that was there before. Not to mention the lunar sized craters that were there before have now been repaired.
The current weather has been a little cooler due in part to the latest surge of storms to hit the area. Yesterday power was out throughout the areas around Dominical for hours while ICE replaced a power pole and some other trouble spots.
Someone who seems to be fairly active in the Dominical real estate market is Casey Stamps. Casey is from BuyingCR – Costa Rica Real Estate and is credited with being the most productive agent in the entire southern zone of Costa Rica. So I would recommend that if you are interested in moving some land or purchasing it…if it’s in the Southern Zone, then there is no better person to contact than Casey himself. Check out Casey’s Costa Rica real estate blog.
Well…that’s it for this post. Sorry for the delays in posts however I have a fair number of blogs that I am responsible for and sometimes others get neglected.

With all the hot weather we have been having, the streets of “downtown” Dominical have turned in to something out of Dukes of Hazzard. Riddled with potholes, the streets throughout the sleepy village of Dominical almost require a gas mask and quad to navigate. Speaking with some fellow business owners in the area, they tell me that the money to asphalt the ‘main drag’ in Dominical has been raised by local businesses. So what is the hold up? No one really knows. My best guess would be that their focus is primarily on the Quepos to Dominical stretch of road that is scheduled for completion by the end of 2009.
The surfing in Dominical has been amazing with all the strong winds plaguing the rest of the country. And of course as usual the sun is out in full force as we head in to the heart of the summer months.

Sorry folks. My bad.
There is no La Cascada on the beach in Dominical. However…there is a new restaurant in Dominicalito on the right side that is owned by the same people and offers apparently the same menu. I still haven’t meandered down that way yet but soon enough I shall and then I will be able to report more on that. Again…my appologies.
Before I sign off I would like to say that I will be revamping this Dominical Blog very soon and be adding many additions to the site in hopes of drumming up some more activity on here instead of simply link baiting for SellingCR.
Last couple weeks I did a massively popular blog post on my Costa Rica Blog on “The Costa Rica Margay” wild cat and now I recently did another one on “The Costa Rica army ants“. Both are worth checking out.

I also will be posting an incredible vacaction rental in the Dominical area that is to die for. This property will also soon be ‘featured’ on the frontpage of SellingCR.

Thinking…thinking about putting together an illustrated history of the Dominical area. Complete with photos and interviews with the people that have been there, done that throughout the area. Spoke to my friend Jack Ewing on the subject and it turns out he is writing a book on the very same subject and has already completed a great deal of the book however lacks the time to finish. Hopefully I can drum up some great old photos of the area before all the changes took place and the developers moved in! So stay tuned you just might see it posted sooner than you think.

I would like to be the first (and only) to welcome you to my little corner of internet whereas I jot down small tidbits about the Life and Times of Dominical beach in Costa Rica.
I have another blog running also if you are interested that is topic wise, completely seperate from this blog. My other blog is called Costa Rica Blog aka CRBlog
My plan for this blog on Dominical is to have all the content featured on here EXCLUSIVE to Dominical beach. Whether it’s photos, videos, gossip or just whatever the hell I feel like…it will always be attached to Dominical, Costa Rica.
Here is a beautiful sunset shot taken on Domincal beach during the summer months of 2008.
